How to become an Animagus 🐱‍👤

Surely we're all itching to know how to become animagi? Like, how can you transform yourself into an animal at will? Well, this is your lucky day, because I will tell you exactly how! To all the muggles reading this, the post and steps are purely based on a fictional universe and and we do not intend you to try these at any cost. 

Step 1: Pay attention to Professor McGonagall and Professor Slughorn.

In order to become animagi, a wizard or a witch must be exceptionally skilled in the art of transfiguration and potion-making. Now, most of  us don't have a Hermione at hand, so this step requires a high attention span.

Step 2: Make your mouth home to a Mandrake Leaf.

...For a month. From one full moon to the other,precisely. You have to be really committed to becoming animagi, because if you accidentally spit out or swallow the leaf, the process needs to start again, and most us don't have that amount of patience. Next, put the mandrake leaf coated with your saliva in a crystal phial that receives pure rays of the moon. You also have to add one of your own hairs in it.

Step 3: Use a silver teaspoon to add a drop of dew from a place where neither sunlight nor human foot have touched

Do this for 7 days. Then, add the chrysalis of a Death's-head Hawk Moth to the crystal phial. Put this substance in a dark and quite place until the next electric storm takes place. Leave it alone. Don't even think about it.

Step 4: While waiting for the storm, touch your wand tip over your heart...

...and say 'Animago Amato Animo Animato Animagus’, every sunrise and sundown. If you keep repeating this, there will be a time when you will feel, a second heart beating, ever so slightly. Now, don't get too excited, just keep doing this until you see lightning in the sky.

Step 5: When the storm finally comes, go to the place where your crystal phial is hidden.

Finally! If you've followed all the steps correctly, you will see a blood red substance (potion) inside. Take the phial to place where no one will have the misfortune of seeing your first transformation.

Step 6: Put your wand tip over your heart (again), and say the incantation 'Amato Animo Animato Animagus’.

If you do this, you will feel- at long last- a double heartbeat. And of course, excruciating pain.

Step 7: The animal into which you are to transform will present itself in your mind.

Remember, the instructions are 'You must show no fear, for now it is too late to escape the change you have willed'.

Step 8: The transformation

You are advised to pick up your wand and hide it somewhere safe, so as to find it easily after transforming. To return to your human form, visualise your human self as clearly as possible, and you will eventually become yourself again.

How did the Marauders manage to do it?

If you've been following me, you'd think, how did the Marauders manage to go around Hogwarts with a Mandrake leaf in their mouths? Well this is mere guesswork, but I think they must have used a sticking charm to stick it to the roof of their mouth. It would be funnier to imagine them parading around with blackboards tied to their necks, writing on them to tell the teachers that they have started a non-verbal campaign or something so that the teachers realize how much they'll miss James, Sirius, and Pettigrew. I have a hunch that either way, McGonagall would've known about it and kept it quiet.
