Neville wasn't an incompetent wizard 🙊
Many Potterheads believe that Neville Longbottom was a poor wizard during his first few years at Hogwarts, but deeper investigation (a.k.a. re-reading the series 🙈) reveals that he simply had the wrong wand.
If you've read the whole series, you'll know the two important points in this theory.
1. The wand chooses the wizard.
2. Neville had been using his father's old wand upto his fifth year, having broken it during the battle in the Department of Mysteries.
Now, some of you must have deduced the theory from those two points alone, but I'll still explain it for those who didn't. Neville's grandmother had given him his father's wand, because of all the great things done with it. But, she promptly forgot one of the most important laws of wandlore that, 'the wand chooses the wizard'. Now during the battle in the Department of Mysteries, Antonin Dolohov broke Neville's wand, not knowing that he did him a pretty small favor. Augusta had to buy Neville a new wand, which actually chose him, and we all see the improvement in Neville's magic from sixth year onwards. I feel delighted for him, because he's also one of my favorite characters in the series!
Do let me know if you want to see a post on my hogwarts house, patronus, favorite characters, etc.
P.S. I apologise if this post is not as good as my other ones, because I was having a bit of writer's block and no motivation. Those two are not a good combination.
It’s true
